Why #10

If someone offered to take you some where with them what would you do?

I would make them a deal of a life time. I kind of did this with the wedding I did a few years ago. We worked out a price also it was my 3rd wedding and also a deal on getting me there. The venue was about an hour 1/2. I did not feel comfortable driving there alone, So I ended up going with them there and spend the funnest 3 days I have had in a while and i grew from it. So the short answer is YES. Experiences are a big thing for me, I want both me and the client to have fun and a good time and for me it would be a learning and growing experience.

What do you think is important about photography?

Your eye and your creativity are what matter the most. I can teach and show you how to use your camera and all the settings. But the ability to see things that most people miss or a diffrent perspective is what makes you a great photographer. Its like painting, I can teach and show you how to use a paint brush but its your creative abilitys that are important.

Why do so many projects?

In the art world for the most part doing projects or personal work is a way to show off who you are and what you like. Personal work can also get you jobs that you might not have gotten other wise because its new/diffrent then what people have seen before. Also doing these kinds of things can help you grow and learn how to use your tools better and in a new way.

First Art Fest

Today was my first time ever doing an art festival. It was a fundraiser event for the one room school house in old chatham.  I brought old frames as well as my photographs that I have had framed and wanted to see. It was definitely a learning experience and kind of fun at times. I did not sell any art but sold frames and gave them some away. I talk to some people and got better at it as well. Gave my cards out to a few people as well.

Will I do another art festival agin? maybe it was deffinitly a lot diffrent then having work up in a gallery space.

Me and Wedding Photography

I have done 3 weddings and they have all been family friends/friends. The first wedding was someone I went to school with, second wedding family friend and the third was family friend/camp counselor when I was younger. The first 2 weddings were close by and I knew most of the people there or they knew me. The 3rd wedding was a big one for me because it was far away and I only knew a handful of people there.

The reason why I don't advertise them anymore is that the wedding industry is very big and theres a lot of services that go into it. There are a lot of great wedding photographers. To me since weddings are such a big thing in our society you should have some kind of focus and understanding of what it means to be a wedding photographer because there is more then taking photos of the day. Theres so many small things that go into it and understanding the business part of being in the wedding industry.

I am not saying no to weddings, I am just being more specific on what I will do when it comes to wedding photography. I am mostly going to focus family friends. I would love to do a wedding in all BW. I love being a fly on the wall at and letting the action happen and capturing moments that may not ever happen agin. If your not into the traditional wedding photos and want candids of peoples emotions and interactions on your wedding day.

An idea someone told me was just being the reception wedding photographer. I would show up just before you would arrive and start taking photographs of you and love ones having a good time. From people dancing and having fun to little family moments and everything in between.

There are people I would recommend for weddings not just photographers if you would like to know photographers I recommend and other wedding vendors let me know I would be happy to help you out.

5 Things To Do In Hudson NY

I have been to Hudson more times then I can count on my fingers for countless reasons. Here are just a few of the things I would recommend doing in Hudson NY.

The first thing that comes to mind is walking around the city streets and ally ways. There are many cool things to see. Theres a lot of street art, stores, restaurants and anything you can think of in a small city. A lot has changed and continues to change. Theres a little bit of everything for everyone.

There are many galleries in the city on the main strip called  warren st and off. The gallery that I like is Carrie Haddad's and thats on the upper end of the street before the park.Thats the galley that comes to mind when but there are many others such as 510 gallery which is another favorite and they are a co-op so a bunch of diffrent artists. They also have the best openings.

There are a few places that are near the water front that are open to the public. At the water front you can see the Catskills and the light house. 1 is the water front park, 2 is the over look, 3 is the old boat houses. All 3 spots are with in walking distance and have 3 very diffrent views of the water.

Outside the the city there are 2 museums. One is Olana which is a house with a lot of trails and the other is the Fireman's Firefighting Museum. They are with in a few mins of the city. Olana is also near the bridge which has a little parking area to look over the bridge and the Firemen's museum is near the school.
