Famous Photographer #8

Diane Arbus

Born 1923 and Died 1971

Her and her husband owned a studio in NYC shooting for big name fashion companies. She was more of the art director and he was the photographer. I was a little shocked when I heard she did fashion because when I think of her I think of the old school circus.

Her husband gifted her a camera when they got married. Her husband was a photographer for the US army in WW2.

She started shooting in the late 50's a little fashion but mostly her own stuff. As she was shooting she did learn more about photography from other professionals.

She is known for her street portraits of people who people would look away from. She did build relationships with some of the people she photographed and that helped her go to places and photograph diffrent people like the circus.
